Dr. Morteza Farajian

Morteza has served as a senior executive leading the Build America Bureau at the US Department of Transportation since April 2019. He is responsible for credit programs and loan guarantees, with $29bn in the existing portfolio and more than $22bn allocated, issued or pending in private activity bonds that support development of large-scale and multimodal transportation infrastructure. His office plays a key role in promoting and supporting the use of P3s in transportation projects across the country. Morteza has a strong history in the delivery of P3 projects, having previously served as deputy secretary of transportation and director of the P3 Office in Virginia, where he led procurement, financing and contract negotiation of multiple multi-modal transportation projects totaling $10bn over seven years.
